Fahma Khoirotun Nida’s thesis defense took place on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time) in Building J305, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Diponegoro University (Undip). The defense marked the final stage in completing her Master’s degree program, a journey that has been fraught with ups and downs to reach this point.

The thesis defense presented was titled “Spatial Distribution and Composition of Shrimp Caught by Trammel Nets in Cilacap Waters, Central Java.” Based on the research results, the biology of shrimp in Cilacap waters averages 43 mm in carapace length. The L50% of captured P. merguiensis shrimp had a carapace length of approximately 45 mm, while the Lm50% had a carapace length of 42.5 mm. The sex ratio of male to female P. merguiensis shrimp during the study was 1:2.7, dominated by TKG levels III and IV. Both male and female P. merguiensis shrimp exhibited negative allometric growth. The utilization rate of the jerbung shrimp (P. merguiensis) in Cilacap waters is still considered sustainable. Catch distribution patterns show that coastal areas dominate high-yield zones, particularly around river estuaries and shallow waters. The strategy for managing the jerbung shrimp (P. merguiensis) in Cilacap waters is to develop further and increase jerbung shrimp catches, but not to exceed the maximum limit.

This activity was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Agus Hartoko, M.Sc (Supervisor 1), Prof. Dr. Ir. Suradi, M.S (Supervisor 2), Prof. Dr. Aristi Dian Purnama Fitri, S.Pi., M.Si (Examiner), Dr. Aninditia Sabdaningsih, S. Si., M. Si. (Examiner and Administrator). Based on the presentation that has been delivered, Fahma is declared to have PASSED with minor revisions (not changing the concept but changing or improving the format). Keep up the spirit to complete the revision to achieve a new degree and Good luck!
