The thesis defense by Devi Oktavia Anjani will be held online on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time) in Building J, Room 307, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Diponegoro University (FPIK Undip). Devi Oktavia, a 2024 PMDSU student, is the final stage in completing her Master’s studies, a journey she has endured through various ups and downs, including conducting research and writing her thesis.
The thesis defense presented is entitled “Antibacterial Potential of Gorgonian and Nudibranch Actinomycetes for the Treatment of Diabetic Foot Infection.” The results showed that isolates UR.1.1, UR.2.11, UR.2.13, and EA.3.3 of the gorgonian association exhibited potential antibacterial activity against test pathogenic bacteria and were identified as actinomycetes, including the species Saccharopolyspora cebuensis (UR.1.1), Streptomyces griseobrunneus (UR.2.11), Nocardiopsis salina (UR.2.13), and Streptomyces zhaozhouensis (EA.3.3). Extracts of isolates UR.2.11 and UR.2.13 showed inhibition zone diameters ranging from 9 mm to 17 mm. However, they had MIC values >1 mg/mL against all test pathogenic bacteria and were deemed ineffective. The extract of isolate UR.2.13 demonstrated the best antibacterial activity.
Thesis Examination was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Agus Sabdono, M.Sc. (Supervisor 1), Dr. Ir. Sri Sedjati, M.Si. (Supervisor 2), Prof. Dr. Ir. Sarjito, M.App.Sc.
